Amcrest Active PoE Splitter Adapter

The Active PoE Splitter splits a networked PoE signal into a separate power and ethernet data source. This device allows you to run ethernet cables from a POE Switch over long distances, and then split the PoE signal into a separate data and power sources in order to run non-PoE devices.

Splitter Adapter

This active PoE splitter can output voltages of 5V, 9V or 12V which makes it compatible with all Amcrest IP Cameras. A POE Splitter allow you to install an IP Camera without worrying about the location, as there is no need to have a power outlet or power supply connected to the camera. Connect an ethernet cable that is connected to a POE Switch to one end of the splitter, then connect the other end of the splitter to the camera using the correct voltage.

IP Cameras: 5 Types to Compare

IP cameras are fancy names for different types of webcams that are commonly used for surveillance. These cameras are digital video cameras that transmit videos over a local network or the Internet. With the use of IP cameras, it is possible to remotely monitor a security system. Each different type camera is used for a specific purpose.

It is important to know what camera will do what for you. There are 5 different types of IP cameras, all of which can be found at Amcrest Security, which include:

•           Decentralized and centralized IP cameras
•           Wired and wireless IP cameras
•           Fixed and PTZ IP cameras
•           Day and night IP cameras
•           Megapixel IP cameras

Decentralized and Centralized IP Cameras

Centralized IP cameras are security cameras that are linked together in a network. This type of storage will make sure that the footage stays safe even if the actual IP camera is lost or damaged. A decentralized IP camera is camera that is not linked together with other cameras, where videos will go to a local storage medium. There is a very small chance of losing all videos at once with these cameras.

Wired and Wireless IP Cameras

A wired IP camera is linked to a network or the Internet in which the camera uses the maximum network bandwidth to make sure it keeps a good connection. A wireless IP camera is connected to the network with the use of WiFi. A wireless IP camera is easier to install than a wired camera but the connection is not always as reliable.

Fixed and PTZ IP Cameras

A fixed IP camera is a network camera that is placed in fixed positions. They are used to take videos of the same area. A PTZ IP camera can use the tilt and zoom feature, which allows videos to be taken from different directions and angles. Fixed and PTZ IP cameras come in the box form or a dome form. A fixed dome IP camera will point only in one direction but a dome camera can swivel 360 degrees. Dome cameras can also be wired, wireless, centralized, decentralized, megapixel or day and night cameras.

Day and Night IP Cameras

A day and night IP camera is used to provide surveillance and video the entire day. During the day time hours, your IP camera is going to work just like a regular IP camera in which it will take full-color videos and images. During night time hours, the IP camera is going to use infrared light so it will be able to take quality black and white videos and images.

Megapixel IP Cameras

Megapixel IP cameras have a high resolution lens where detailed images are going to be taken. If you want quality images that you can really see, this is the type of IP camera to go with. When using this type of IP camera, you must have a high bandwidth and storage capacity if you want to be able to transfer and store high definition images and videos. If details are important to you, go with a megapixel IP camera.

Amcrest :**The Use of GPS Trackers**

Almost everyone has used GPS Navigation at least once to reach their destination. Imagine this scenario, your vehicle ends up being stolen and you have no idea where to even start when it comes down to trying to recover your vehicle. How could you easily track something like a car? Amcrest has the answer with GPS Trackers, the easiest possible way to track everything you love from anywhere.

GPS Navigation vs. GPS Tracking

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is considered to be a household name and has greatly decreased the need for road maps over the years. GPS utilizes positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) services to pinpoint several values. Position determines your location via coordinates, navigation generates your current position and applies corrections in order to steer you towards your desired position. Lastly, timing allows you to acquire a precise time to reach your desired location. Typically, GPS is used to keep transit vehicles on schedule and helps drivers to reach their destination at the fastest possible time. By doing this, it is able to frequently update drivers with traffic notifications and is often used to track train and bus arrival times.

A GPS Tracking System is primarily used to monitor and does not typically possess navigation capabilities. Instead it monitors the location of not only vehicles, but can also be used to track children, elderly and pets. GPS Trackers usually require a monthly service in order to utilize its features. The GPS Tracking System is capable of generating reports showcasing how fast the vehicle was going, where it has been and for how long. People often find themselves using a GPS Tracker to give themselves a peace of mind especially when it comes to their loved ones.

What all can I use a GPS Tracker for?

A GPS Tracker’s use goes beyond just placing it in your vehicle and allowing it to show you were you’ve been and how long you were there. A GPS Tracker such as the Amcrest Mini-Real Time GPS Tracking Device is able to increase the chance of recovery in case of vehicle theft which in turn can save you time and money. You’ll also find that with a portable GPS Tracker, the device can easily be hidden in a glove department, pocket, backpack, purse and other valuables.
By using geofencing, you’re able define certain areas that will prompt your GPS Tracker to notify you when certain criteria is met or violated. You’re able to keep tabs on your children when they go to school and know when they arrive and leave just by defining specific zones. Have a teenager that just started driving? A GPS Tracker helps you keep them safe by notifying you with speed alerts and telling you just exactly the driver went on their journey.

What is Geofencing?

You’ve heard me mention that word several times throughout this article and you’re probably wondering what it actually means. A geofence is a virtual perimeter set by the user that defines a real-world geographic area. By setting these perimeters you can set certain restrictions in order to tailor your GPS Tracker to fit your needs. With the Amcrest GPS Tracker, you’re able to set three different zones to better suit your preferences. The zones can be edited and in turn the GPS Tracker notifies you when it physically enters or leaves a specified zone.

Should I get a GPS Tracker even if I use regular GPS?

By all means, yes! The GPS that you use on a daily basis from within your car or on your phone only serves to get you where you need to be. A GPS Tracker will actually be able to help you keep track of the things you love, be it your vehicle, children, elderly, pets or your belongings (such as your luggage on a flight). You’re able to keep track of the speed of your vehicle regardless of who the driver may be and know if something or someone arrives or leaves a designated area set by you. By using a GPS Tracker, you’re able to keep track of everything you love from anywhere at anytime, a normal GPS cannot grant you that same level of security.

Amcrest’s Home in the Cloud

Many places have their own cloud services, which they, in turn, provide to their customers to enhance their experience, such as Amcrest Cloud. Today, we’re going to discuss the nature of the cloud and how it may benefit you more than your current hardware or software.

What is the cloud?

Most people like to consider the cloud as some unreachable place in the sky where images and videos are kept, forever preserved until needed again by their owners. In truth, the cloud, or cloud computing, is where a variety of resources are stored. By doing this, it allows one to save space on their own personal hardware and software. An example of this would be deciding to save your photos to a USB drive or a MicroSD card. At some point, however, you’re bound to run out of space and you’re eventually tasked with buying more hardware or software in order to create room for your resources.

How does this ‘cloud’ benefit me?

The cloud can benefit you in a number of ways, and the number one benefit for everyone is time. You can always get your money back, but you can never get your time back. By using a cloud service you’re able to buy however much space you need instead of buying it in bulk with large hardware or software. With the latter, you’re always bound to have leftover space that you may never use.
With Amcrest Cloud, you’re capable of accessing your security cameras all from one place instead of having to use either multiple monitors, NVRs or other storage devices. You may find that with the Amcrest Cloud, you’re even capable of watching live video providing that you have a reliable internet connection.

By using a cloud service, you enable yourself to become more cost-efficient. The price of buying a separate hard-drive can easily amount to more than $150, provided that you only needed one. A cloud service is typically purchased monthly and offered at a much lower rate of around $10/month. For Amcrest Cloud, it’s around $6/camera per month for unlimited live streaming.
Since cloud services are hosted on a virtual server, you’re less likely to lose your saved data. By using a cloud service, you’ll never have to worry about the possibility of a USB card becoming corrupted or running out of space as time goes on.

What is Amcrest Cloud?

Amcrest Cloud is Amcrest Industries’ second home. For those who own Amcrest cameras and DVRs, you’ll find that you can store your recordings and never risk missing another moment. Because your footage is saved in the cloud, your recordings and images are not only accessible from anywhere that as an internet connection but also protected at all times.

Our cloud service is accessible from your computer or smartphone and allows you to watch your recorded footage from all of your cameras in one place. Through this service, you can receive notifications as soon as your camera senses movement and quickly view footage on an intuitive intelligent timeline.

With normal cloud services, you’re able to not only protect yourself but your information as well. With Amcrest Cloud, you’re able to protect the footage that keeps your home or business safe without a flicker of doubt.

More Than a Wifi security camera

You definitely want to install a Wifi security camera in and around your home but there are many other things that you can do to keep your property and loved ones safe. There are many places, such as Amcrest security that will have just the right Wifi security camera to fit your needs.

Burglaries are Going to Happen

Sadly, in today’s world, burglaries are going to happen. Even though burglaries have dropped steadily for the past 20 years because of home surveillance security cameras, they are going still happen. There are still over 2,000,000 victims of break-ins every single year. If you want to avoid becoming part of this crazy statistic, there are a number of things you can do to make your home less vulnerable to theft besides the obvious one of installing a Wifi security camera in and around your home. There are many low-cost home improvements and common-sense practices that will help you keep your home safe.

·         Have window and door shades up and in use in all windows. This is going to make it difficult for unwanted visitors to see if you are home or not.

·         Make sure all locks on all doors and windows are in working order. Make sure to look all doors and windows, especially when you are not home or are sleeping.

·         Install interior lights, television and radio timers. The point of this is to make others think that someone is at home when you actually are not.

·         Install motion-controlled outdoor lighting. There is nothing more suspicious to burglars than a porch light that is left on over a long period of time.

·         You do not want to have any bushes and shrubs that are in the way of an open window or door. Intruders are going to try and hide behind large bushes and shrubs. It may be best to have thorny bushes in these areas.

·         Start a block watch group in your neighborhood. These groups are very effective because they encourage others to be vigilant and to call the police whenever they see something that does not seem right.

·         Always keep garage doors closed, even if you are at home. If you leave your garage door open, burglars are going to see what all you have in your garage and can make a plan for a later time. You can also drill holes in garage door tracks and insert a padlock, to prevent the garage door from being forced open.

·         Do not put a message on your answering machine letting others know that you are away from your home. Never put a note on the door letting others know you are away (even if it is for a package). Also, never post on social media when you are away from your home, believe it or not, people you know will also rob you.

·         Keep car doors locked and never leave valuables in plain sight.

·         Do not leave ladders in plain sight, as they are an invitation to burglars.
